About this role

Day Complex Care Assistant – Spinal Injury

Buntingford, Hertfordshire | £16.00 per hour | 8am–8pm

Looking for more than just another care role?

We’re looking for experienced, confident and compassionate carers to join a dedicated team supporting a gentleman in his own home in Buntingford.

Our client is 47 and lives with a C3 complete spinal cord injury following a motocross accident almost three years ago. He lives at home with his wife and his two very large — and very friendly — Great Danes, Thor and Mav.

This is an opportunity to become part of a consistent, highly trained care team, providing one-to-one support that enables our client to live safely, comfortably and as independently as possible.

What will the role involve?

You’ll be supporting with personal care, catheter care, bowel care and other aspects of daily living. Just as importantly, you’ll be helping our client maintain his independence, choices and everyday routine.

We’re not expecting you to arrive knowing everything. Specialist training and competency assessments will be provided by our in-house clinical team, ensuring you feel confident and fully prepared before working independently.

We’d love to hear from you if you are

Experienced in care, ideally complex care or spinal injury

Calm, confident and able to respond appropriately when situations change

Reliable and committed to providing consistent, high-quality care

Emotionally mature, respectful and non-judgemental

Comfortable working both independently and as part of a close-knit team

A good communicator with a positive attitude and a sense of humour

Comfortable around two very large, friendly dogs

Happy to work within a home where CCTV operates in the carers’ room and externally

Driver with car is essential due to client's geographical location

Shift pattern: 8am–8pm, including alternate weekends.

What you’ll receive from Abbots Care

£16.00 per hour – weekdays and weekends

You’ll also receive paid holiday, pension enrolment, fully paid induction and specialist training, an Enhanced DBS paid for by Abbots Care, ongoing development and diploma opportunities, Blue Light Card benefits, access to our Care Worker Wellbeing App and Rewards, and support from a dedicated Account Manager and wider clinical team.

Why join this package?

This isn’t about rushing from one care call to another.

You’ll have the opportunity to really get to know the person you’re supporting, understand what matters to him and become a trusted member of a small and consistent team.

At Abbots Care, we believe exceptional complex care starts with exceptional carers. That’s why we invest in your training, development and ongoing support, so you can feel confident in the care you provide.

If you’re looking for a role where you can build a genuine working relationship, develop your complex care skills and see the difference your care makes every day, we’d really like to hear from you.
